Launching a new jewelry collection doesn’t happen overnight. It involves a lot of brainstorming, trial and errors of different designs, photoshoots and much more. Read on to find out how our newest collaboration with Lauren Versnick rose from its ashes.
THE START OF SOMETHING NEW.
Over a year ago, our design team and Lauren Versnick had their first gathering about designing her very own jewelry line. More meetings followed, in which they created moodboards together, exchanged ideas and inspiration and discussed the storyline behind every piece. From the get-go, it was clear that Lauren, who was raised in a family of strong women, wanted to create an empowering collection. This was then translated in the mystical phoenix symbolizing resilience and rebirth and the red garnet gemstone that stands for passion and courage. As a result, the fierce LAUVE collection was eventually born.
READY, SET, SHOOT.
At the start of April, the photoshoot for Lauren’s new collection took place. The talented Belgian photographer Sofie Coreynen shot the campaign pictures. Using objects like wings and red lighting, she perfectly visualized the mood and story of #Lauve. Makeup artist Kyria Cateau did a wonderful job on the hair and makeup looks, taking the result to an even higher level.
A CHAT WITH LAUREN.
Q1. How and when did the idea of creating your own jewelry collection with DPT come about?“I’ve loved jewelry since I was little. I begged my mother to get my ears pierced when I was 6 years old, and I was always trying out my grandmothers’ rings and earrings. So naturally, when DPT asked me to become one of their brand ambassadors, I knew I had to grab my chance and ask whether they would be open for a collaboration. When the team said yes, it was like a dream come true for me.”
Q2. What part of the design process did you enjoy the most? And what was the most challenging aspect of it?
“Coming up with the mood board and seeing the jewelry pieces come to life was the most amazing experience. I saw my own ideas become a reality - so freaking cool. The most challenging part of the process was making sure that everything fitted coherently together in the collection story. There were so many ideas and concepts that I liked, so we had to be consequent in the decision on the pieces that would make it into the collection and the ones that were left out. Killing your darlings is never an easy thing.”
Q3. You’re a beauty both in front of and behind the camera, can you share a secret modelling tip?
“I don’t really think there’s a secret. If you’re happy and you feel like everything is in balance, it gives you a certain natural type of glow. If you feel confident, it will emanate to other people who’ll feel that confidence too. So, if I must give one single tip, it would just be to discover who you are and stay true to who you want to be. In turn, this will resonate all over you.
Q4. You’ve named the jewels after friends and family, how did they react to this sweet tribute?
“They all felt very honored and full of pride to be part of my very own jewelry collection in this way. There were some happy tears involved.”
