To us, the month of October does not only scream Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it highlights a time filled with strength, realness, support and healing. Together, we create space for women to feel supported, to nurture conversation about breast cancer and to glorify the feminine body in all its forms.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes and goes, but that’s no reason for us to stop raising awareness or considering the ways to reduce risk for yourself and loved ones. Today, guest designer Marie Martens and our creative director Stephanie Wilms open up about their personal experiences with cancer and the inspiration behind the BOOB capsule collab.

What was your inspiration for the BOOBS collection and why is it important to partner with Think Pink?
MM: When a childhood friend recovered from breast cancer started buying boobs bags for herself and then for her ‘boob-buddies’, her friends who accompanied her during her illness or who had breast cancer themselves, I immediately realised that I had to do something more to support scientific research and awareness-raising for breast screening. So in France I’ve teamed up with Ruban Rose and in Belgium with the Think Pink organisation.
Oftentimes, certain causes are more impactful when they directly affect us. Has breast cancer affected someone in your close surroundings?
SW: Unfortunately, yes. I lost my grandmother and my aunt because of breast cancer. Recently, one of my closest friends was faced with the horrible diagnosis as well. So you can imagine that supporting this fight and the women who are suffering, is something I hold dear.
Having 3x beautiful young daughters, the female energy around the house is thriving and the boobies are winning. Do you feel that the topic of breast cancer also concerns this younger generation?
SW: Throughout the years, we have been confronted with breast cancer in our surroundings several times. And of course, the girls at home hear from what is happening around us. We have decided to talk openly about it within our family, because breast cancer is no taboo, on the contrary, talking light-heartedly with my girls about such an important and real subject is very important to me.
I have the feeling that breast cancer is not something that’s very much alive in their generation, so I still want to educate them and make them vigilant about breast cancer. So yes, you can definitely say that there is a lot of boob-talk going on in our household (*winks*).
It’s so important to walk the walk with initiatives to support breast cancer research. How can one contribute in their own microscopic – yet so important – way?
MM: First of all, we want to encourage every woman to take on the responsibility of checking themselves regularly. Next, there are plenty of initiatives to contribute, whether that’s donating or participating in marches with friends. Finally, our BOOB jewelry pouch and the matching engraved necklace designed in collaboration with Diamanti Per Tutti, next to my entire BOOB collection, are committed accessories, donating 10% of sales to local associations working for breast cancer research. And don’t forget, you are boobstiful.
